Creatle is a Wordle-style game engine. The idea was simple: there were already plenty of Wordle clones, so what was missing was a place to make and share them.

I built it solo at HackCU 8 in March 2022, with Next.js, Prisma and PostgreSQL. It hosts a couple of games: Forty-twodle, where you build an equation that equals 42 in five tries, and Minecraftle, where you work out a crafting recipe in three. The engine part works, and any Wordle-esque game can run on it. The "create your own" part did not make it in time, so I added games by hand through the database. Making that part real, plus accounts and leaderboards, is what my Devpost page lists as next.

The weekend itself was a bit of a mess. According to the ATLAS write-up, I showed up an hour late, then at 3 a.m. scrapped the experimental stack I'd started with and went back to the tools I'd used at T9Hacks. My Devpost page admits to tearing the stack and codebase down twice. Well, it still took second place.

Award: HackCU 8: General - 2nd Place, and Best Games, Music, and Entertainment Hack.
