Hello! Welcome to my post about a short game I made for a Design class. This game was ideated and created in the span of 2-3 days. Here was my process.
Making a punching bag game in P5.js
I’m a pretty decent programmer…kinda. What I am not good at is hardware, which I’ve been focusing on improving the past couple months.
Experiments in Analog- and a failed attempt at a screaming robot.
Analog! We technically already delved into using analog with the MedPuck, but it turns out we’re actually going to dive deeper into it.
Series
- First Steps - Week 1→2 RecapStarting Project Mountaintop’s rhythm game from scratch in Unity: a modular rhythm system, ghosts, and a hilariously buggy first prototype.
- Stay on Beat - Week 2→3 RecapFixing a shallow-versus-deep copy bug that broke ghost movement, then adding scoring, lighting and theming on the way to a playable demo.
- Week 3→4 - IntegrationA short week with one big milestone: hiking-pole controls finally talk to Unity from custom Arduino hardware over a serial connection.
- Week 4→5 - Deluxe CombosMIDI-driven beatmaps, music, combos, SFX and the first standalone build of Project Mountaintop, plus playtester and mentor feedback.
- Week 5→6 - SPAAAAACE!T9Hacks week: a space theme, a new UI, a Hans Zimmer beatmap made in 15 minutes, and a humbling attempt at 3D character modelling.
- Danny Rankin - Mentor ExtraordinairePlaytest feedback from mentor Danny Rankin that shaped Project Mountaintop: the hiking pole controls, polish priorities and a six-input scheme.
- Week 6→7 - Rest WeekWeek 6 to 7 of Project Mountaintop was mostly a recovery week.
- Logic Probe Build LogThis year I’m taking some cool courses as part of my Creative Technology & Design major at CU Boulder.
- Making a (literal) ThreadBoard constellation!First off- obligatory explanation of what the heck a threadboard is.
- LED Pong and more adventures with the Arduino Nano 33 IoTThis version comes pre-soldered so prototyping with breadboards was a breeze. And well, that’s exactly what we did.
- Creating my first PCB: ObjectBut before we get to that… let’s talk processing. I’ve been using the Arduino as the brains for my projects for a while now.
- MedPuck PCB PrototypeThis is a continuation of a previous article. For more context about the MedPuck device, read that article here.
- Experiments in Analog- and a failed attempt at a screaming robot.Analog! We technically already delved into using analog with the MedPuck, but it turns out we’re actually going to dive deeper into it.

- Poznan: Low Roar MVPoznan: Low Roar MV. Made an MV for Motion.
- Quantum Computing explained in 1 minute.Warning- massive oversimplifications! But that should have been obvious…
- Small Projects in MotionPlease enjoy my walking animation! Not much to say about this one, just a very basic…ahem…walking? Animation.
- Making a Kinetic TypographyFor my Motion course, I was tasked with making a Kinetic typography animation.
- Creating my own animated logoSo, I’m in a few design classes this semester. In addition to my Object exploits, I’m also in a Motion (read animation) class.
