For my Motion course, I was tasked with making a Kinetic typography animation. This involves matching text animations cleverly and intentfully to an audio. I chose a piece from Men in Black as it seems really relevant again with people not being very smart about the coronavirus pandemic and politics in general.
I chose Neue Haas Grotesque as a font choice. Perfect for a bureaucratic organization like the Men in Black. Also, the scene takes place on a NYC park bench, so I mixed in some audio in the background as well, especially as I cut the scene short to the relevant parts.
As far the type animations go, I was in a bit of a rush, but focused on making smart animation ins and transitions. Showing impact with the speed and making sure that every component “flows” and connects to one another. I used Photoshop to layout my ideas for the final “scenes” and then imported them into After Effects to create the animations for each of the elements/layers.
Overall, it was a really great experience in After Effects, and in the end satisfying to see everything line up. I hope you enjoy!
